Already prior to the present predicament with the coronavirus, the world has been facing severe challenges regarding the well-being of the planet, the ecosystem, and humanity. Many of these challenges have been codified by the United Nations into the Sustainable Development Goals (=SDGs).

The Sustainable Development Goals are an urgent call for action and range from promoting well-being for all at all ages to ensuring clean water and sanitation for everyone, from gender equality to protecting the ecosystem both on land and underwater.

Solve the SDGs is a hackathon where the focus is on solving these challenges. It’s a hackathon for people, who want to make a difference. For people, who want to take action and save the world, instead of watching it burn.

Last year, we had over 200 participants from 47 countries working on three different challenges: Sanitation for all (SDG 6), Sustainable Cities & Communities (SDG 11) and Health and well-being (SDG3).

After two days, participants had built solutions to all of the challenges, varying from an early detection system for water contamination to a community platform for citizens to contribute in building their city.

Solve the SDGs is hackathon for people, who want to make a difference. For people, who want to take action and save the world, instead of watching it burn.

Solving challenges of this scale may seem like an insurmountable task. No one can save the world alone, let alone in one weekend. But together with bright minds from all over the world, world-class mentors and sufficient data, we can take a step or two in the right direction. Because if not us, then who?

Join us in hacking for a more sustainable future 🌱

The hackathon is open for participants from all backgrounds; no prior hacking experience is necessary. We’re not looking for technical submissions only — anyone can play a part in solving these problems. As long as you’re a team player who thinks the world could be a better place, you’re more than welcome to join on May 28–30!
